It has the ability to read of the flash directly from the engine ecu on just about any MED17 or EDC17 type of Bosch ecus these are commonly used in petrol and diesel cars 2009 to present date and often have tprot or tuning protection so can’t be done via obd port.

This tool works in a bench service mode method so no opening of the ecu or soldering is required for 99% of the ecus you will do.

It doesn’t work by virtual read either it actually reads out the data out of the ecu directly and gives option to back up the eprom and flash memories as well as password reading from the ecus so can be useful for immo swaps and cloning data in some cases
